Activities & Events
Outdoor events range from half-day, low impact local hikes to multi-week adventures domestically and internationally. Overnight accommodations can range from wilderness camps to mountain huts or deluxe resorts. All events and activities are designed to provide a realistic level of relevance and adventure to your need or workplace while staying within the physical and emotional limits of the participants.
Natural Discoveries maps out events as positive experiences that respect all involved. We do this by respecting the environment we explore and teach in and by providing you with a safe, positive learning environment. We support your personal growth as an individual, which directly enhances your professional growth.
Typical programs include, but are not limited to, pre-event individual and team coaching, strategy planning and post-event follow-up and communications to help anchor the skills acquired.
Scenario Design Strategy
After discussions with your organization, Natural Discoveries develops a strategy for your group or corporate needs. We then develop an experiential outdoor learning model that parallels the route to your goals with a realistic level of adventure and experience based on those needs and your abilities (even the least "physically active" scenario can be very powerful!). The scenario is then reviewed and adjusted as needed with your goals and budget in mind. Various mixtures and levels of scenarios are supported by focused activities within those scenarios. Combined, they provide limitless paths to guide a group's focus towards their established goal. Although event scenarios and activities are planned, they are not scripted. The dynamic of each group is the critical element of the overall event.
Our facilitators' roles are many fold and safety is first and foremost at all times. Our scenarios may push a participants', trust, problem solving, and "growth edge"; but our facilitators work with you, within your boundaries, and within our expertise. Our facilitators are seasoned professionals, skilled in numerous back-country (outdoor) and front-country (corporate) disciplines.
Some of the many individual activity examples that can be combined are: introduction to the nature and the outdoors, day-hikes, single and multi-day mountain biking, high adventure (rock climbing / rappelling, ropes courses, peak ascents), water sports (rafting / canoeing), multi-day wilderness expeditions (backpacking, mountaineering, etc.), competition (orienteering, cross-country skiing & snowshoeing), philanthropic adventures abroad.
