For whatever reason, there's a managerial position that opens up. The company loves the work that you are doing, they know that you'll be able to understand the ins and outs of what work needs to happen and how (doing). Unfortunately, they assume that you'll somehow just know or will learn the other "people skills" (being) on the job. That's not always the best way to gain the skills you need, especially when you become responsible for more than just yourself.
